Jim Klein was born in New York City and is an alumna of the Horace Mann School. He was graduated from Kenyon College in 1981 with a degree in History and later settled in Southern California. Since 1982, he has been a broker and an investor primarily with industrial real estate in the greater Los Angeles area. He also serves large manufacturing and warehousing clients throughout the United States. His specialty includes larger in-fill land sites, building tear downs, and redevelopment. Jim publishes a quarterly newsletter about his views and local real estate trends.
Jim was Past President of the Broadway Rosecrans Industrial Commercial Association (BRICA), an association of property owners and tenants in a large industrial section of Los Angeles County. He recently served as President of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Los Angeles Chapter and currently organizes education and keynote sessions at the Society’s two national meetings. SIOR is an international organization whose members are some of the most elite professionals in the industry.
Jim is a partner at Los Angeles Social Venture Partners, an organization founded on the principle of venture philanthropy. Primary investments have been with charter schools in the central Los Angeles area. The current round of investment will focus on the environment. Jim resides in Santa Monica with his wife Jane, and daughter, Elizabeth. He is very active and enjoys tennis, swimming, or running almost daily. Other interests include reading, writing, music, and fitness. Jim also enjoys foreign travel and speaks Spanish.
